Trigger Systems has taken the revolutionary Platinum line and made it better. Taking feedback from customers, the v2 Platinum line incorporates a customizable front end where water enters the sump allowing you to configure it for the exact type of filtration desired: filter socks, fleece roller or filter tray. The sump ships default with the filter sock configuration, where the Fleece Kit (sold separately) converts it to a fleece roller sump. The new front end has the ability to remove the plates and clean the entire fleece area. It also allows you to put in socks in cases where the fleece runs out and you don’t have any spare rolls on hand.

Cosmetically this line will look great in any setup. The bottom is white and the surrounding walls are smoke along with a blue top. The front section has a flush clear polycarbonate lid. All of the plumbing fittings (input from tank, several individual in the middle section, and output to the tank) are all on plates.  All models except for the cube have a middle wall that is move-able to custom size the two sections. This is great for setting the space needed exactly for your protein skimmer maximizing the other section of a refugium or other equipment. The middle wall is also removable to create one large section. The water height is adjustable in the front section of the sump to set the height required by the protein skimmer. There are wire holders strategically placed to hold the wires and hoses, keeping them in place for a clean look.

The Fleece Kit (sold separately) includes everything you need to convert the sump to a fleece roller, including the updated v2 motor controller that has a small screen to configure a bunch of new features and uses optical sensors. This automated, continuous mechanical filtration replaces filter socks. We tested several different designs and found that having the fleece roll system sized to the sump is by far the most efficient. Our fleece rolls have been lasting 4 to over 6 months, unlike filter socks that need to be changed every few days. Every user so far has reported improved water quality, with some stating algae is no longer a problem. The fleece rolls are 8″ or 10″ wide depending on the model and 150 feet long.

This design will automatically roll new fleece to be filtered as soon as the fleece in the sump becomes dirty. We created a diamond pattern for the water to flow through which follows the gem theme, but purposely uses the most surface area on the fleece. Maximizing surface area is key in this design to allow the fleece to last longer and to allow for more water flow.

Fleece Roller

 

The Platinum and Titanium sumps can have a fleece roller added (sold separately). The fleece roller uses the new motor controller with optical sensors and a small screen to configure a bunch of features. The Fleece Kit comes with all the parts needed to convert the Platinum/Titanium sump to use the fleece roller and also comes with 2 fleece rolls to get started.

 

 

 

 

TITANIUM and PLATINUM V2 sumps use the same FLEECE KIT to upgrade to a fleece roller. The 26 and 20C models use the 8" and the 34 and 39 models use the 10".
