A modern chess set in Peacock Blue and Light Gold, inspired by the late 19th-century art movement Japonisme, particularly the work of James Abbott McNeill Whistler's 'The Peacock Room'. This set combines classic and contemporary styles, featuring hand-turned, carved Staunton-inspired pieces with Purling's unique Knight design. Crafted from luxury hardwood, each piece is hand-painted and finished in London with a durable, glossy coating. They sit on Italian Napa leather base felts, embossed with the Purling logo in 18-carat gold, and include four Queens for easy pawn promotion. Paired with an Italian alabaster stone board, this set is presented in luxury branded packaging, making it a striking gift. Limited stock is held, with made-to-order options available (approx. 8 weeks).
