The NuStat hemostatic dressing is used by professionals to stop the loss of blood fast. It is an advanced hemostatic surgical dressing that allows for temporary control of bleeding in lacerations, punctures, abrasions, and traumatic injuries for patients displaying Class III or Class IV bleeding.
NuStat is a single-use hemostatic wound dressing applied externally with mechanical compression to temporarily control bleeding in lacerations, punctures, abrasions, surgical wounds (operative, postoperative, dermatological, etc.), and traumatic injuries. NuStat utilizes a Hemafiber technology consisting of cellulose and silica-based fibers. The cellulose component quickly absorbs excess fluid and binds red cells from the injury site, thereby concentrating the cellular and molecular mechanisms needed for effective hemostasis. The silica-based component promotes platelet activation and attachment at the wound site. This well-known phenomenon is known as the glass effect, ultimately helping to accelerate the body's natural formation of a platelet plug. 100% of the NuStat Dressing is Hemostatic.
